Until It Comes Again

Sometimes I feel it
come over me
like it always has.

It never really goes away
but rests and waits
like an evil creature

from the depths
of the dark place.
It has a thousand

black tentacles
to entwine my soul
and drag it

into its pit of tar
from where I cannot escape.
It has no mercy

and when its course is done
it lets me be
until it comes again.

‘Until It Comes Again’ speaks to me of the times when the darkness overcomes us all. A troubling poem, over powering in its description of depression and the fear that even when it releases you from it’s grasp it will come again.
